Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion play a vital role in the life of the Church by assisting the priest in distributing the Eucharist during Mass, ensuring that all members of the congregation are able to receive Holy Communion, especially during larger gatherings. Appointed by the Archbishop for three-year terms, these ministers are thoroughly trained to handle the sacred elements with reverence and respect, exemplifying a spirit of service and devotion to the community. In addition to serving at Mass—on a rotating basis, typically about twice per month—they also extend Christ’s presence beyond the church walls by bringing the Eucharist to the sick, homebound, and those in nursing homes. Through their ministry, Extraordinary Ministers help foster a sense of unity, enable active participation among the faithful, and reflect a deep love for the Eucharist and a heartfelt commitment to serving God and His people.
